This has been a year of new experiences and challenges. Opportunities to stretch into new territory.

When Jacob Jonas invited me to photograph his contemporary dance company’s tour in Hawaii I jumped at the chance - but I was also a bit intimidated.

I don’t typically get hired to shoot performance - let alone modern dance in dark theaters. I asked Jacob if I could approach this project in more of a documentary style - capturing every step as it happened - on stage and behind the scenes and all the moments in between.

Jacob and his team of remarkably gifted dancers welcomed me with open arms, and gave me incredible access into their routines and lives during five incredible days in Maui and the Big Island. It’s an experience I’ll cherish forever and I’m honored to be a part of their story.
